MANUFACTURE.
As in the design section we have personnel hand picked from
ex-model making sites, all with model making experience and all
capable of tool room activities.
Mr R Finch Production Manager, over-sees the manufacture,
assembly and site support of all models. He has spent 15 years in
the model shop at "BAe Woodford" where he was the
supervisor.
Ray has been with "NAM" from its beginning and has
worked on all aspects and types of models, and has been our
representative at all tunnel test sites.
Ray controls four full time and up to 3 part time model makers,
all are past employees of "BAe Woodford" all with
experience in model production. Although our model makers are
universal in their abilities each one has a skill that is
targeted at certain types of model build, eg.
PATTERN MAKING,
CNC MACHINING,
UNIVERSAL MACHINING
This core number allows "NAM" to maintain a
professional approach to all its projects, giving 100% commitment
and diligence throughout the models built. With the number of
personnel being flexible it allows "NAM" to keep a
number of skilled people without stretching our resources.

This is a general overview of our equipment and not the entire
capacity, It should give you an insight to the wide range of
equipment we carry in order to complete the models. All of our
equipment is controlled within our "ISO9001" Quality
Statement and only used when in calibration.
CAPABILITY.
As with the design section we have the capability to manufacture
models designed within "NAM" or designed externally.
Our range of manufactured models and machines are as follows,
CARBON FIBRE MODELS,
FIBRE GLASS MODELS,
STEEL AND ALLOY,
MACHINES AND RIGS,
CRYOGENIC MODELS,
HIGH SPEED MODELS
LOW SPEED MODELS
WATER TUNNEL MODELS
We ensure that all models are manufactured within the following
tolerances,
CNC CUSP HEIGHT, +.004"
CNC SURFACE FINISHING, +.003"
HAND FINISHING, .8 micro inches.
WAVE ALLOWANCE, + or - .003" over 2".
CONTROLLED SURFACE DEPLOYMENT, + or - .005" on set points.
Through our "Quality System" we monitor the entire
model from start to finish and release with the model the
following documentation,
INSPECTION FORMS,
CONCESSION FORMS, [if any].
MATERIAL CERTIFICATION,
DETAILED DRAWINGS,
WORK INSTRUCTIONS,
CMM INSPECTIONS,
SHADOW GRAPH DETAILS,
COMMUNICATIONS,
PURCHASE DOCUMENTS,
DELIVERY NOTES,
On the delivery of models we ensure that the model is securely boxed, that the content is itemised and that a photograph is issued showing the model prior to shipment.
As with design we have built models of all
types already outlined, and for all the tunnels noted. After the
delivery of models "NAM" supports them through
commissioning and as in some cases the following tunnels for
testing,
WARTON 4m,
BARTON 9 X 7,
WARTON 9 X 7,
GENERAL.
As you can see, although we are a relatively small manufacturing
company we are ideally built for the manufacture of wind tunnel
models. We offer a team of experts who remain with the project
from start to finish, ensuring our customers of dedication,
diligence and commitment to quality.
GENERAL EXAMPLES.
We have received permission from a number of customers to allow
photographs and reduced drawings to be shown in this report. We
have included them so that we can demonstrate through example our
skills in both "DESIGN and MANUFACTURE".
